Still trying to finish this damn computer table. It's coming along nicely but after a month and a half I'm ready to be done with it. If you look closely at the floor I think you can actually make out drops of sweat. Been fun working on this thing in 90 degree desert heat! [img]eek.gif[/img]


Stained and mounted two new collection shelves. Monsters 3 finally has a home.

Finally put up a closet organizer in the office. Now my wife has no excuse for all the 'piles' she leaves around the house. (hmm... that sounded kinda weird [img]eek.gif[/img] )

Andy - Thanks! I'm gonna post step by step pics when it's done in case anyone wants to try this (although I'm not sure I'd recommend building a table out of a 40 lb door! [img]wink.gif[/img] )

Shy & Shy - Thanks - I was really nervous the first time I put one of these up but it gets easer after doing it about 13 times! [img]eek.gif[/img] Every wall in that room is covered with shelves - yes, my wife and daughter think I'm completely mad! [img]graemlins/grrr.gif[/img] [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

Overtkill - it's a lot cheaper if you buy the wood and do the sanding and staining yourself. It doesn't take that long and it's super cheap. You'll pay $15 or $16 ea for the packaged boards. My brackets are pretty expensive but you can find them for just a few bucks each too.

Sweet. What kind of finish is that on the table top?

Cool ain't it? It was my wife's idea. The door we used had about 4 coats of old paint on it so stripping it off was out of the question. We knew we wanted to put stain on the legs and molding rather than covering the whole thing with paint.

So she came up with the brilliant idea of staining just the legs and side molding and covering the top with wallpaper of all things. Then we're going to put decorative molding - the prefab kind - on the sides. Then, when it's all put together we're going to cover the whole thing with a semi-gloss shellac type of sealer. So far the plan is working well - if the damn stain ever dries! [img]graemlins/grrr.gif[/img] [img]biggrin.gif[/img]
